Many of today’s organizations try to develop the capability to quickly adapt to change in their management teams and even in all employees. But as an executive leader, you need to take the next step. It’s not enough to adapt to change when you’re often the person creating the change.
You’re the model for others to change their actions or behavior. So it’s up to you to be the first to change. This applies internally in your organization as well as externally in your business. You can wait to respond to the ever-changing environment, or you can do your part to create the change you want to see in your organization, your industry, or your community. Truly great leaders lead; they don’t wait to see what other people are going to do first.
