As we move forward, we are being reminded that this isn’t going to last forever. Eventually, we will be going back to the office. But don’t be mistaken – things will be different. As leaders, it’s important that we think about what’s next. The best way to prepare for a future that is so uncertain is to be present now, in this moment.
Good or bad, we have been put in an extremely unique position to learn all about working virtually. We can take advantage of this opportunity to practice agility. In this time, remember the agile cycle of “Test. Learn. Adapt.” Take this time to learn what works and what doesn’t work, so you can bring what you’ve learned back to the office when it’s time.
What are some things you learned while working virtually? What mindsets, behaviors or processes do you want to keep when you go back into your office or workplace? Keep the routines that you have found to make you and your team more effective and efficient.
As you plan for the future, utilize flexibility and empathy for yourself and others. Ask for help when you need it and support those around you when you can. While we may not know what the future holds, we can stay present and capture the unique discoveries and ideas that come from this experience.
These are unprecedented times, and every day brings new challenges. If you are encountering challenges with working remotely or developing virtual processes, ELC has resources to share with you.
